Will Australia get the new Apple Home Collection accessories?
Apple has announced a new lineup of Apple Home Collection accessories produced in partnership with LG and Schneider Electric. But will you be able to buy these products in Australia?
The Apple Home Collection in Australia
Unfortunately, Apple hasn't announced an Australian launch. The cameras and video doorbell will initially be available in the US, Canada and UK, while the smart lock, thermostats and sensors will only be available in the US and Canada.
The rollout begins in December 2026, with some products arriving in early 2027.
I'll update this page if any of these products become available in Australia.
What's the big deal?
These smart home products have been designed with direct involvement from Apple. Apple worked with LG and Schneider Electric throughout the planning stage, so these are effectively Apple-designed smart home accessories.
- One-tap setup: The accessories can be paired by just tapping your iPhone. This is similar to setting up a HomePod or AirPods. You don't need to scan a code.
- No apps needed: I'm sick of using a different app for each individual accessory! These devices can be managed entirely through Apple's Home app, with consistent controls. You don't need to sign up for another account or download another app.
- Thread: Each accessory supports Thread, which helps maintain connectivity if your Wi-Fi drops. Thread can provide more reliable connectivity.
- Privacy: Apple has promised end-to-end encryption, with neither Apple nor the manufacturers able to access your Home app data. Apple is already known for its privacy features within the Home ecosystem.

Will these products launch in Australia?
Some of these products may make it to Australia. I don't believe we'll see the smart thermostats, as they're designed for 24V HVAC systems that are less common in Australian homes. Other products, such as the floodlight camera, require hardwiring, which could complicate an Australian launch given our electrical standards and installation requirements.
So I wouldn't expect these products anytime soon. But it's a great sign that Apple is looking to better integrate smart home products and improve privacy, setup and management.
