Apple is Reintroducing New HomeKit Architecture in iOS 16.4

HomeKit 16.4

Apple will be reintroducing a new HomeKit architecture in the upcoming iOS 16.4 release.

Apple was planning to launch to new HomeKit Architecture in a previous version of iOS but pulled the changes after a large number of bugs and reliability issues.

The new HomeKit architecture is meant to increase the reliability of the HomeKit platform and improve the efficiency of connections. It was announced at WWDC in June 2022.

Developers have been able to access the 16.4 beta release. Early indications suggest the new HomeKit architecture has indeed improved performance of HomeKit. We’ve been impressed with our initial testing of the new architecture. Our Camera performance has been noticeably faster and appears more reliable.
