The Aqara G4 video doorbell is now available for pre order in Australia. The Aqara G4 in one of the few smart video doorbells that support HomeKit Secure Video. It can also stream to Google and Amazon Alexa displays.
The main selling point of HomeKit Secure Video over other solutions is Privacy. Video feeds are encrypted end to end and all AI processing is done locally on your Apple Devices. Any video that is uploaded to the cloud is encrypted and even Apple doesn’t have a key to unlock it.
If you currently subscribe to Apple’s iCloud+ or Apple One, you access to HomeKit secure video for free. This means many Australian Apple users will already have access to HomeKit secure video without needing to buy any additional subscription.
The doorbell can be installed wirelessly or wired and Aqara claims the battery will last for 4 months. Previous HomeKit secure video doorbells like the Logitech Circle did suffer from performance issues.
